Quick rendering of a Chevrolet Camaro redesign
I’m going to come right out and say it – I really hate the current design of the Camaro. Really, I want to like it but I just can’t. I grew up in the 80’s lusting after Z28’s and IROC-Z’s, dreaming of the day that I would be able to afford one of my own. Now that I’m older and in a better spot financially than I was back then, I just can’t bring myself to drive one of these things – they are just so darn awkward looking.
Here then, is a quick concept sketch I drew which shows how I would clean up the current generation Camaro. First of all, I got rid of the notchback look and brought back the large glass hatchback – which is a total throw-back to the third generation Camaro’s of the 80’s. Then I made sure to give the car a bit more of an aggressive stance. High in the back, low in the front – just as any pony car should be. Finally, I kept the front and rear overhangs tight and clean, and filled the wheel wells with rims inspired but he IROC wheels of the 80’s. Yeah, it’s retro.
From a rendering point of view, I started this one thinking that it was going to be totally easy. After all, who can’t draw a side view of a car? Strangely enough, I haven’t done a semi-detailed side view sketch and rendering like this in a long time, so I struggled a bit with getting the proportions correct. It’s probably a bit too toy-ish looking, and I should have reduced the size of the wheels a bit. Oh well – next time.
As always, this was created with my old Graphire 4 Wacom tablet using SketchBook Pro and Photoshop.
Looks like u need a Corvette. I believe they should lower the belt line on it and put that wide ass rear on a diet. Also it needs a more contrasting interior.
